The Hadith School of Qom, as one of the most influential intellectual centers of the Imamiyya, has always been a focal point of attention for scholars and researchers. However, studies related to Mahdism in this school still suffer from certain shortcomings, such as the lack of a school-based perspective and the absence of detailed typological analysis of Mahdism narrations. A precise typology of narrations can provide a clear picture of the different categories of Mahdism narrations within this school and pave the way for deeper content analyses in future studies.
Accordingly, this study, using a descriptive-analytical method and based on 358 narrations from the Hadith School of Qom, classifies the Mahdism narrations. The findings show that the largest portion of narrations concerns the era of Imam Mahdi’s (AS) governance, while narrations about the period after him are relatively few. By focusing on both the structural and thematic analysis of narrations, this research takes a step toward completing Mahdist studies within the Hadith School of Qom.
