The Potential of the Waiting Culture in Dealing with the False Claimants of Mahdism

Abstract

Today, in our society, despite the progress made in the waiting (for Imam Mahdi) and Mahdism culturalization, there are many challenges and harms in assisting and believing in Imam Mahdi one of the results of which is the tendency towards false claimants of Mahdism. This important issue requires to re-identify the culture of the waiting with an analytical view and to activate its internal potentials to deal with this phenomenon. In this regard, the authors in this article, using a descriptive-analytical method, have examined the potential of the culture of the waiting in dealing with the false claimants of Mahdism and finally, it has reached the achievement that the waiting culture, by using the three internal indicators of insight, tendency and action based on Mahdism and the authority of the Imam of the Age, is able to protect the waiting society from deviant tendencies. This is because the culture of the waiting in itself benefits from the elements of Muwalat (succession) to the Imam and his true guardians, acquittal from enemies and their followers, knowing the position of the Imam and the opposite front with him, spiritual purification and refinement of the emotional and loving sphere, and so on. All of these reasons lead to the mental and psychological security of the waiting people against the harm of tendency to false claimants.
